Our high-school programme provides a high-quality, direct entry into Education Queensland International (EQI) schools, in addition to dozens of award-winning catholic & independent Queensland secondary schools.

About this Course:

The intensive Charlton Brown High School Preparation classes consist of 25 hours of face-to-face instruction per week. Attention is given to developing all macro-skills (Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking) as students engage in theme-based study. Students will learn about Australian culture and school culture. Teachers will also equip students with the language skills needed to participate in and succeed in the mainstream classroom. Additionally, students will receive instruction in Maths, Science and Computer Technology, along with skills for developing learner autonomy. A particular focus is given to fostering learner autonomy, as Charlton Brown recognises the importance of student achievement beyond the HSP Programme. Students will have the opportunity to write academic papers, give spoken presentations, participate in class activities, and access online learning resources. Continuous assessment of students' learning will provide the feedback necessary to stay on track for entering the mainstream classroom at the expected date. Charlton Brown is committed to quality assurance.

What You'll Learn:

  • 25 hours of in-class instruction per week, including dedicated student support sessions
  • The HSP course comprises five levels, each lasting ten weeks
  • Regular reports on academic progress and development
  • Language skills for subjects such as Maths, Science, Social Studies and Art
  • Enhanced language proficiency, cultural understanding, and academic literacy
  • Development of learner autonomy, including understanding feedback, seeking assistance, using a dictionary, reflecting on learning, and setting personal learning goals

Welfare and Accommodation

Welfare and Accommodation

While completing the HSP Programme students have the option of staying with an Australian Homestay family. This allows students to live with an Australian family while completing their studies and really experience Australian culture and way of life, while simultaneously improving their English skills. If you are interested, Charlton Brown will assist with arranging and organising the Homestay to ensure that you are placed with the best suited Homestay family. All Homestay families hold a Government authorised Blue Card, allowing them to host international students.

Beyond the Program

Charlton Brown works in close partnership with the following private and international schools, helping to ensure that HSP students are well supported throughout their whole schooling journey.

After the completion of the HSP Programme students also have the option of studying at a wide range of Education Queensland International (EQI) Government schools that offer high quality education. Brisbane Campus (Adelaide Street 1) Course TRAINERS

    Kylie Brunell

Hi Everyone, I look forward to meeting you in our High School Preparation program. I enjoy teaching English to speakers of other languages as I have experienced the same difficulties learning and living in a foreign country. I enjoyed teaching and studying in China for 8 years and before that teaching in Japan for 2 years. Living abroad has taught me the obstacles that can be thrown at you living in a country with different languages and cultures, which is why it gives me great joy helping our students to overcome these hurdles and help them to learn more about Australian culture and people.

An effective teacher is one who directs, facilitates and manages the students’ learning process. Da Teng is one of them. I like his flexible teaching style, positive belief in the ability to solve translating problems, willingness and motivation to listen and caring for students.

    Zhang Jing

I’m very happy with the service and education Charlton Brown provided! Alvin’s teaching was fun, creative and entertaining. He likes to talk about trending topics in the class. He’s also fast at answering any questions.

    Rob Manz

Thanks to CB admin staff Shirley, Menu, and My teacher Fei, Beth and Fanny for providing the care and support. I’ll start working casually at a childcare centre soon after the placement. I’m extremely happy with my achievement!

    Ping Lai

From our trainer Rudy to the fantastic online resources, super engaging lectures and the outstanding guest speakers – plus the 24/7 student support – there’s literally no better place to study. It’s incredible.

    Nathaniel

I’ve been enjoying the course a lot. I gained the knowledge in the classroom and then apply it at workplace. The staff, the student services, they are all friendly and supportive.

    Muni

I am very satisfied with CB.  I finished Cert III Individual Support and Cert IV Disability with trainer Jericho. He has been a superb help in completing my course.  Although he is strict on attendance and submission, he gives us flexibility in completing our assessments and offers free one-on-one consultation. He patiently explains to us the subjects we find difficult to understand.

CB admin team Menu and Shirley has been very wonderful in helping me with all my needs. I could not ask for a better educational institution in my studies here in Brisbane.

    Milette Regalado

I highly recommend this course. Da Teng is very helpful and supportive to all students and thanks to him, I passed NAATI and became a certified translator. I also improved my English a lot from this course. It was a great learning experience.

    Michy

I’m loving studying design at the institute – it’s fast-paced but the staff, the labs, the learning are awesome. The opportunity to start from scratch to design and market a clothing line is super exciting.

    Mariana

I’ve been really improving my English, and I’m very excited to start high school in Australia.

    Mao Masuda

I’m so lucky, I had a great time with amazing teachers in General English-Ms.Jessica and Ms.Jayne. They’re always supportive to us. I’ve learned a lot and I could improve my English skill with my class. I really appreciate their help.
