The Programme in Detail

Attention is given to developing all Macro-Skills (Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking) as students participate in theme-based study. Students will learn about Australian culture and school culture. Teachers will also equip students with the language skills they need to participate and succeed in the mainstream classroom, and students will also receive instruction in Math, Science, computer technology – in addition to skills for developing learner autonomy.

Particular focus is given to developing learner autonomy as Charlton Brown recognises the importance of student achievement outside of the HSP Program.

Students will have opportunity to write academic papers, give spoken presentations, participate in class activities and access our online learning resources. The continuous assessment of students’ learning will provide students with the feedback they need to be on track to enter the mainstream classroom at their expected date of entry.

Charlton Brown is committed to quality assurance.

Brisbane Adelaide Street Campus Course TRAINERS

Kylie Brunell

Hi Everyone, I look forward to meeting you in our High School Preparation program. I enjoy teaching English to speakers of other languages as I have experienced the same difficulties learning and living in a foreign country. I enjoyed teaching and studying in China for 8 years and before that teaching in Japan for 2 years. Living abroad has taught me the obstacles that can be thrown at you living in a country with different languages and cultures, which is why it gives me great joy helping our students to overcome these hurdles and help them to learn more about Australian culture and people.

Words cannot express accurately enough how grateful I am for having Fanny as my trainer during most of my Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care. The level of her service delivery was above and beyond my expectations, as well as her ethics and the knowledge and skill set she kindly shared with her students, always with a positive attitude, broad smile and gentleness that are her trademark.
